River Science
Science intersects at just about every level at the river -- from the simplest chemistry and biology requiring elementary use of microscopes and nets, to much more complex chemistry and environmental science in which endangered species can be monitored and statistics compiled to make difficult policy decisions. Georgia Adopt-a-Stream provides the training that we use to do the Chemistry and Biology of the river, and every student can become a certified to collect data for this important volunteer-based organization.

Science classes at every grade level, from sixth grade earth science, seventh grade life science, eighth grade physical science, and ninth grade biology work well with river science. We do invertebrate samplings once a month usually, rotating between three sites that we monitor for Georgia Adopt-a-Stream.
